Independent Digital Media is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Independent Print Media Group (IPMG).

IPMG has a long and proud history as a family-run publishing and printing business. In 1934, the group entered the world of publishing with the establishment of ‘The Randwick District News’ newspaper.

In 1968 the group acquired its first web offset press. Michael Hannan, the present Group Managing Director, joined the business and Hannanprint was formed. Now, Hannanprint is one of the largest one-site printing facilities in the Southern Hemisphere.

In 1986 IPMG group relocated to Bourke Rd, Alexandria - the site that has now grown into the 17 hectare South Sydney Corporate Park.

IPMG’s publishing portfolio was further expanded with the establishment of The Federal Publishing Company (FPC) that added popular magazine titles to its already existing newspaper arm.

In 2005 the Interactive Group was created as the third publishing division of FPC. The FPC Interactive team produced some of Australia’s most loved lifestyle websites - fashion icon Vogue; Notebook magazine; and the recently-launched taste.com.au. Made up of 13,000 recipes from delicious, Super Food Ideas and Australian Good Taste magazines, taste.com.au quickly became the number 1 food website in Australia.

Following the sale of the FPC business to News Limited, the collective expertise and online publishing experience was harnessed to form Independent Digital Media.
